I kinda love dinosaurs. I have a son who isn’t so little anymore. It makes me happy that he still remembers all of the dinosaur trivia he would entertain us with when dinos were his obsession! Today’s project is in honor of all the dinosaur lovers out there! This simple wall decor kids idea is perfect for a nursery, kid’s bathroom- or really for anyone who has a love for these prehistoric beasts.
Supplies needed to make your own decor kids dino trio:
- Wood Wall Decor Pallet Box
- Rawr Wood Shape
- T-Rex Standing Wood Shape
- Brontosaurus Standing Wood Shape
- Unfinished Wood Pennant (2)
- Craft Paint (your choice of colors) I used:Red, Navy, and Apple Tart
- Wood Stain
- 150-Grit Fine Sandpaper
- Wood Craft Glue
Begin by staining your pennants and wooden pallet box.
While that stain is drying, paint your dinosaurs.
Paint every other slat in your wooden pallet.
Let the slats be your guide. You don’t have to do a great job on any of the paint, because you will be distressing it when it is dry.
Let everything dry completely.
I left my “RAWR” word art as is. It is already a pretty white, and looked really great against the stripes of the pallet.
Hit all the wooden surfaces with sandpaper to distress the edges of the wood, and give it a worn look.
Then apply wood glue to the back of the painted pieces.
Place them where you like them. Centering them on the pennants and the wooden pallet.
Then, use something heavy to hold the pieces in place until the wood glue cures.
I used hand weights and I also counted it as a workout. Yes, I did.
I let mine sit overnight to make sure that the glue was set.
Find a place to hang your new decor kids wall art and let the compliments roll in.
